Donovan's First Blue and Gold Banquet

Donovan took part in his first cub scout blue and gold banquet Saturday evening. The annual event includes rank advancements, awards, and the crossing over ceremony for the webelos moving from cub to boy scouts. Donovan participated in a skit and received an achievement bead plus a gold arrow and two silver arrows for his elective work. It was a great time for all and Donovan was really excited about the arrows. We have already sewn them onto his uniform.

Dillon's First Shave

Today was a special day in our house. Dillon, only a few weeks before his 14th birthday, shaved for the first time. Here are a few pics of the special event. Our little boy is closer to being a man.

Fun and Creative on Cold Days

During the cold winter days, Delaney has been very creative with blocks. She has created tons of different structures and then video tapped the demise of them. Below are a few of her creations.

A Fun Filled Saturday

My sister and her family were in town to see Shrek the Musical with us. Dad purchased the tickets as a Christmas present for all of the grandkids and the parents. So, Saturday was the day of the musical...and it was phenomenal! We had a blast and I forgot to take my camera...so no pics!

After the musical, we went to Donovan's pinewood derby. Donovan's car ran 1st in each of the first 8 heats.

Then in the finals, he raced four times and place 1st twice and 3rd twice. This gave him a 3rd place finish out of 18 entries and a trophy!

Dillon also entered in the "outlaw" division for non-cub scouts. His car placed 5th overall. He graciously acknowledged that Donovan had created a better car...this year.

Family Update

I am having trouble keeping up with the blog, but there are lots of great things happening in the family. Dillon recently finished his football season and has started wrestling practice. His first meet is Nov. 20th. Delaney finished up her fitness club and volleyball season. Donovan and Dillon are both working hard in scouts. Dillon is ready to start working on his eagle badge requirements!

Terry is working hard on the farm doing lots of endless jobs that we are thankful for but not very exciting or glamorous. I am still doing my Master's courses and trying to keep my head above water.

Today, I am thankful that all of the laundry is done and we were able to find time clean the glass on the front door. (thanks Laney!) It is the little things that we celebrate!

Donovan is a Wolf

Delaney was trying out Donovan's new hat at the cub scout harvest dinner this weekend.

Donovan recently met the requirements for his bobcat badge, so he is now a Wolf rank for cub scouts. At the harvest dinner on Saturday, he was asked what he liked best about cub scouts and he said getting to be a boy scout. He really wants to be a boy scout like his big brother!

Sunday Fun

Today is the first day of Terry's vacation and he had a great idea of how to spend the day. After breakfast we packed a lunch and headed to the city lake for fishing and fun. We all had a great time and on several occasions I remarked that Terry's idea was genius. I didn't fish, but basked in the sun like a cat ready a really fluffy book...my master's class just ended and the next ones start on Monday.

The kids had fun fishing and playing on a huge tree stump in the water about 6 feet from the shore. They used a thin wooden plank that someone had nicely left to walk over to the stump. Again, no camera for the trip, so all I have are grainy cell phone photos to document our great day.

AND Terry caught the most fish! Delaney caught the smallest.
